This is very exciting news! Make sure you're in front of the tv on the 23rd of October because MK&A are appearing on Oprah! From this preview video they look amazing - I'm guessing they're going to be talking about The Row, and their diffusion line Elizabeth and James.

Influence - The Cover

The cover for the twins' new book Influence has been posted and the book is available for pre-order from amazon.com! I don't know if the book will have both covers, one front and one back, or seperate covers with each sister.
I love the shots but it would have been much nicer if both backgrounds were white and if the fonts were different colours. However, I am very excited about this book! It will definetly have a spot on my coffee table!

Ashley looked absolutely stunning (along with MK) at the launch for their new book "Influence". It will be a "coffe-table" book that will feature all things the girls find inspirational and influential. Here are the details so far

Young stars Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen mingled with 70 booksellers at a party in West Hollywood to promote their glossy October book, Influence. The bash wasn't open to reporters, but Mary-Kate got on the phone later to talk about the project and why the twins wanted the word out early.

"It was the first party to launch the book, and we just wanted booksellers to know that we're really excited about it," says Olsen, 21. "We worked so hard on it."

In the photo-heavy Influence (Razorbill, $35), Mary-Kate and Ashley together and separately interview 22 actors, designers and photographers they consider influential, including Karl Lagerfeld, Lauren Hutton, Diane von Furstenberg and Margherita Missoni. There will be two jackets, with a different Olsen on each front cover and the other on the back.

"We wanted it to be an inspiring book about people who are successful," Olsen says. "Sometimes we all get lost in the process of our lives, and it's inspiring to hear others' stories and to know there will be ups and downs and to hear how they got through it."

Olsens + Robert Lee Morris = Elizabeth & James Jewelry

One of my favourite Marykate and Ashley projects has to be Elizabeth and James. It's more affordable than The Row (though not by much) and creative, simple and beautifully designed. Now it seems that the twins want to foray into the jewellery making business....

Robert Lee Morris, winner of two CFDA awards and longtime Donna Karan collaborator, is working on a jewelry line for Elizabeth & James.
According to WWD, MK + A are longtime fans of Morris' jewelry, which ranges from blurred dollar sign earrings to rings with crosses.
His work has appeared in ELLE, Harper's Bazaar and Vogue, and will be part of the Elizabeth & James label sometime this summer.
The line will consist of "silver and brass dagger necklaces, amorphous knuckle rings and edgy earrings" - expect to see Mary-Kate decked out in every piece during Fashion Week.

the hunt for the right outfit

Remember Ashley attending the Calvin Klein shows a few days ago? Well, word is that she wasn't just scoping out any old dress but the dress for the CFDA Awards. Remember her Elizabeth and James outfit last year - hard to beat!

Calvin Klein (and Costa) fan Ashley Olsen attended the
Monday morning show and scoped out a one-shoulder gown with tiny pleats
and snakeskin print pattern to possibly wear to the upcoming CFDA
awards on June 2, for which Costa is nominated in the "Designer of the Year"
category. Like other resort collections this season - Christian Dior and
Oscar de la Renta - the one-shoulder dress is shaping up to be a key trend
for Resort eveningwear.
